Mykah is originally from Daytona Beach, Florida. She moved to Nashville, Tennessee and attended Ensworth High School. She has a bachelor’s degree in sport management from the University of Tennessee and is currently pursuing her master’s in social work there.
Mykah’s experience with Emerald Youth started when she began interning here for her practicum during her last year of undergrad. With no family currently living in Knoxville, she has genuinely appreciated the community she has built here at Emerald with her co-workers and the youth she has served through coaching track, both for Emerald Youth and Emerald Academy, and through her time as an AmeriCorps member serving young people at Mount Zion Baptist Church.
Since she was a child, Mykah has known that God has called her to serve others and advocate for those who need it, so she works to invest in her community and meet the needs of those around her. She attends Overcoming Believers Church, is the president of the U. T. chapter of the Coalition of Black Social Workers and recently joined the Knoxville Area Urban League. As an introvert, she enjoys the refreshment of time alone working out and going to the park and really depends on her time with God to strengthen her for her work pouring into others.
