Max Lemons moved to Knoxville when his Air Force career of 21-plus years brought him to work in the local processing station. He earned a master’s degree in management and a bachelor’s degree in religion from Wayland Baptist University.

During his time in the Air Force, he served for 11 years maintaining computers and 10 years as a human resources officer. He has tutored at Pellissippi State Community College and worked for Knox County in the Code Administration Department.

Max joined Emerald Youth because he has experienced similar life situations as a lot of young men in urban Knoxville. When he was young, Max didn’t know what was available to continue his education, so he joined the military. He appreciates that Emerald Youth provides support and guidance for education after high school.

Max loves to play music. He attends Riverstone Church in South Knoxville and serves on the worship team, as well as in the student ministry.

His sons, Garrett and Breck, are talented musicians who play in multiple bands. His wife, Kristi is from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and is an American Sign Language interpreter.  In his free time, you can find Max competing in triathlons, kayaking and running with his dog, Kevin.
