Matt moved to Knoxville following persuasion by his grandchildren and wife for the past few years. In January 2022, they felt the Lord calling them to use the needs of their family to reawaken their calling, so they made the plan to move.
He graduated from Cincinnati Christian University in Ministry Leadership, then attended Lincoln Seminary. He has since worked as a Student Pastor, Family Pastor, and Church Planter/Lead Pastor.
He believes every child matters regardless of their ethnicity or social-economic situation. He was mentored by Dr. John Perkins, and he closely aligns with the gospel-based principles of Christian Community Development, which made him want to serve at EYF.
He is married to his wife, Sara, who works at Bearden Middle School, and they have two sons.
Matt loves to mountain and road bike, kayak, hike, watch college football and hang out with his grandkids.
Fun fact: “I was given up for adoption by a teenage mother, placed into foster care, then adopted into a great family. Just recently, I was reunited with my birth mother and had the privilege to baptize her into Christ!”
