Darius Hughes graduated from Southeastern University where he received his B.S. in Communications, and a minor in Bible and Music. He continued to further his education at Oral Roberts University where he remains today, working to obtain his Practical Theology degree.

Darius has a long history of serving the local church. Darius worked as an associate pastor for 18 years in various roles, served alongside his wife as staff pastor/elder at Church on the Living Edge overseeing the Next Gen Department, and now currently serves and attends Resting Place Church in Knoxville where he and his wife actively contribute to developing spiritual formation and discipleship.

Darius’s enthusiasm for working with Emerald Youth as the JustLead Director for Lonsdale/West Area is fueled by his strong dedication to faith-based service and keen desire to foster the growth and development of urban youth. He is most excited about the prospect of employing his skills and experiences to support Emerald Youth’s mission of empowering Knoxville’s youth through comprehensive faith, learning, and health programs.

In his free time, Darius enjoys spending quality time with his wife Becca and his two daughters Reign and Jubilee. He also enjoys good coffee shops, exploring downtown areas, and binging on crime, comedy, and classic TV shows.
