The Knoxville Force concluded regular season play with a record of 7 wins, 3 losses and 2 ties, becoming the top team in the east division of the National Premier Soccer League’s Southeast Conference and earning a ticket straight to the semifinals of the conference playoffs.
Unfortunately, the semi-final in New Orleans didn’t end the way the team would have preferred – a 2-1 loss to Inter Nashville FC.

“I’m disappointed for our guys,” said Knoxville Force general manager Derrick Long. “They fought hard and played strong until the very end, but just couldn’t come away with the win against Nashville. Coach Stocton did an excellent job preparing the team, and I give him credit for a great game plan.”
While the playoffs didn’t turn out the way the team would have liked, the top spot in the division earned its fan club, the Scruffy City Syndicate, the coveted Volunteer Shield. The trophy is awarded to the primary supporter group of the Tennessee club in the NPSL with the best head-to-head record.

“The fan support was tremendous this summer. We’re grateful for everyone who came out and showed their enthusiasm for the men’s and women’s teams,” Long said.
