Christopher Rivera started with Emerald Youth Foundation in 2017.
A native of Mexico City, he moved to the U.S. when he was 12 years old and spent his middle, high school and college years in Indiana. He graduated from Anderson University with a bachelor's degree in computer science.
Before joining Emerald Youth, he worked for four years with The Dollywood Company, helping develop and implement digital and social strategies for Dollywood, Dollywood's Splash Country, Dollywood's DreamMore Resort and Dollywood's Smoky Mountain Cabins.
Christopher knows first-hand the difference it can make to obtain a solid education, and he wanted to use his knowledge and skills to help others have the same opportunities he has been given. He considers Emerald Youth is the perfect place to do just that! He's also thrilled to be with a Christian organization to help advance faith and discipleship outcomes with young people in the heart of Knoxville.
During college he was president of the Multicultural Student Association and volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters. He currently serves as a board member and volunteer with Knoxville's Centro Hispano de East Tennessee.
He is always trying to learn something new, enjoys traveling with his wife Charissa, finding delicious hole-in-the-wall restaurants, listening to podcasts, and "singing" the lyrics from "Hamilton"...non-stop.
Christopher is also only a sports fan once every four years when soccer, which is the best sport in the world (his words, not ours), takes the world stage at the World Cup.
He and his wife are pretty nerdy, have a dog named Lottie and two cats named Chelle and Echo.
